The Innovation Walk has reached an exciting technical milestone with the launch of material testing for the Core Glow elements that will power The Blue Light, Adrian L. Burrell’s immersive installation inspired by blues music, Edison and Latimer’s collaborative genius, and the liminal spaces between night and day.
This month, the project team began evaluating Core Glow stones, which will create the installation’s signature illuminated effect. The initial test involved placing the substrate in real-world conditions to observe brightness, charge time, durability, and texture. The next step is a power wash to reveal the stones fully and document their glow under various lighting conditions.
Once the surface is cleaned, the team will assess which stone size and density offer the best performance and aesthetic impact. These findings will directly inform the final design, helping ensure that The Blue Light delivers an inspiring and resilient experience for visitors.
Stay tuned: each test brings us closer to bringing this visionary work to life along the Innovation Walk.
